Education & Early Career: Graduated in Japanese Painting from Kyoto City University of Arts in 1973 and participated in restoration work for Nijo Castle's Ninomaru Palace sliding-door paintings
Awards: Received the Yamate Museum Prize in 1987 and the Kyoto City Newcomer Artist Award in 1993.
International Exposure: Held a solo exhibition in New York in 1995.
Academic Career: Currently serves as a specially-appointed professor at Kyoto City University of Arts, and is Professor Emeritus at Seian University of Art and Design.
